BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY
Featuring a Special Introduction by Academy Award–nominated and Golden Globe–winning actor Tom Cruise.
In honor of Memorial Day, USA proudly presents the 9th movie in the Characters Unite Film Series to use the power of storytelling to raise awareness of social injustice and foster dialogue to promote tolerance and respect.
"Born on the Fourth of July" follows the autobiographical story of Ron Kovic (Cruise), a native New Yorker who, upon graduating from high school enlists in the Marine Corps, suffers a crippling injury during his tour in Vietnam and faces indifference and discrimination when he returns home.
Released in 1989, "Born on the Fourth of July" was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won two for Best Director and Best Film Editing. It also won four Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture and Best Performance by an Actor.
As we commemorate Memorial Day, let's honor the strength and sacrifice of our nation's veterans and military families and build on Ron's legacy to promote greater respect and acceptance for all.
